All Aboard! Announcing the new Great Smoky Mountains Music Train

Just announced! A brand new music event hits the railroad in Western North Carolina this summer on June 5 & 6, 2026.

Modeled after the popular Durango Blues Train event in Southwest Colorado, the new event is an exciting musical adventure aboard a steam-powered train through the breathtaking landscape of extraordinary trestles, pristine mountain rivers, historic structures, and stunning foliage. The Music Train features six live music performances (two bands and four solo/duo artists) on board the train with a sound system in each coach. he coaches with the solo musicians will have seats in them with plenty of room to dance and move around. Coaches are fully enclosed railcars with windows and doors that open and close. Bands will be located in the open air “gondola” cars. Gondolas have full roofs, open sides, with seats removed to provide plenty of room for dancing and moving (we encourage passengers to bring jackets).

There will be two coaches with no music for people to chat and relax. You will be allowed to travel between all coaches and gondolas.

Join us this summer for an evening on the rails unlike anything else.
